OLD NEWS

Pink Whistles

October is designated as Breast Cancer Awareness Month by the VHSL. Whenever possible, and especially on PINK-OUT matches, please use your pink whistle and lanyard during the month.

Position of R3

The CVVOA Executive Committee has adopted a plan by which first and second-year members can get more assignments and at the same time receive immediate feedback from an association rater. In selected JV matches, the rater will be assigned the R3 position on the schedule. His/her duties are to sit in the stands and observe the JV match, focusing primarily on the R2 (1st/2nd-year) and reporting comments about his/her performance. Between the JV and Varsity match, the R3 will review some of the situations observed and provide feedback to the R2. It is the JV R2's responsibility to watch at least two sets of the varsity match to obtain an insight as to how matches should be called. More about this will be explained at the general membership meeting on July 16th.
